The first stop of the tour is Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the central Russian Orthodox Church in Yalta. The facade of the cathedral is remarkable for the mosaic picture of the ancient Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky, Russian Saint.
Drive through the center of the city and up to the mountains to pay a visit to a brand new St Michail temple. Built on the slope of a mountain it has an observation platform, that allows taking panoramic pictures of Yalta and the Southern coast of the Crimea. Compare the archetectural ensembles of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (beginning of XX cenury) and St Maichail Church (beginning of XXI century).
Then continue to Protection of the Virgin Church in Oreanda, known for its unique mosaic depiction of Jesus Christ at the age of fourteen, executed by Antonio Salviati.
The church was built in Georgian and Byzantine style in 1885 for Grand Duke Konstantin Romanov.
Crown your exploration of religious sights of Yalta with a visit to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, situated near Livadia Palace.
