Odessa Palaces

Today you will visit three Odessa palaces and enjoy classical music concert in the Golden Hall of Gagarin Palace. First your air-conditioned motor coach brings you to the Palace of Count Novikov, a real creation of architecture with its brilliantly coloured stained glass windows, marble fireplaces and the impressive staircase. Now it houses the Local Lore Museum.
Continue to the palace that once belonged to Count M. Tolstoy, the initiator of the creation of the first Russian ambulance station. This palace was built in 1832 and later enlarged by adding a picture gallery, designed by Felmer, one of the architects of Odessa Opera House. Rejoin your coaches and proceed to the world-famous Odessa Opera House. The Opera House is one of the best in Europe, goes after Vienna Opera House from architecture standpoint. The theatre building was constructed in 1887 according to the project of the Vienna architects F. Felner and G. Gelmer.
After the photo stop at the Opera House continue to the palace that once belonged to Prince Gagarin, and presently houses Russian and Ukrainian Literature museum, featuring manuscripts and personal belongings of Pushkin, Bunin, Brodsky, and other writers and poets. The palace has at all times been known as a place of literary meetings and readings with the participation of famous Russian literary men and women.
