Enjoy a panoramic journey along the Black Sea coast and across the Balkan Mountains after which the whole peninsula is named. Our final destination is Varna – one of the oldest settlements on the Bulgarian coast. The area has been inhabited since the remotest past. Graves, full of gold objects were excavated nearby the town. Today Varna is a thriving city known as the “Pearl of the Bulgarian Riviera”. Start you tour with a short visit to “Assumption” Cathedral. Get inside to mingle with the worshipers and to admire the interior decoration rich in murals, frescoes, woodcarving and stained glass.

Continue to the 2nd century Roman Thermae – the largest in the European part of the Roman Empire. Next visit will take you to the Archaeological Musem which is housed in the beautiful building of the former Girls' High School. The museum houses a permanent display of gold items and icons. Lunch will be offered at a local restaurant – a good chance to taste the traditional specialities and Bulgarian wine. After lunch the tour continues even further to the North of Varna. Aladzha Rock Monastery is one of the hundreds medieval rock monasteries found in the North-Eastern part of the country. The monastery is located amidst lush greenery creating a mysterious atmosphere. The premises are arranged on two levels and have been cut in an almost 40 meters high sheer limestone rock.
