The Ottoman Istanbul

Duration: 5 hours
Walking: medium

Departing from the port Ottoman tour of Istanbul, will begin with a drive over the Golden Horn towards the Ancient City, aiming to the first sight of Blue Mosque right at the edge of Hippodrome. Blue Mosque is the only original mosque in the world with six minarets. Part of the breathtaking interior is the stained-glass windows, creating a marvelous colored effect, and the graceful arabesques decorating the mighty dome and series of small domes. Since the Mosque is still in use as a House of Worship, visitors enter through the south side door and must take off their shoes at the entrance.

After meeting at the exit, tour will have another short walk across the Ancient Hippodrome to visit the Ibrahim Pasha Palace or in other words the Turkish Islamic Museum of Arts. Ibrahim Pasha Palace, located on the west side of Hippodrome, palace was presented to Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha at 1523 by Suleiman the Magnificent. Now housing the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, it exhibits a variety of items from antique kilims, manuscripts, calligraphy, wood, ironwork, and stone sculpture to faience, stained glass and folk art.

On the garden level we find the Ethnological collection, devoted mainly to the nomads of Anatolia. The Museum also hosts the Holy belongings as well as the most valuable ancient Turkish carpets namely the original U?ak and Selçuk Carpet collections. The next place of interest will be the Famous Topkapi Palace which requires a short bus drive through the ancient gates.
